For Sale

Well thanks to the British insurance industry it makes little sence for me to keep my ecomatic anymore. Aparently acording to them I live in Greater Manchester (the edge of which must be at least 20 miles away) so my renewal comes out at over £800. They also want me to fit an expencive emobiliser be...

Re: "Rest hand on gearlever to stop engine switching off"

I think I've found this feature by accident, it apears its not that well explained. Its not the switch in the gearstick that triggers it, its holding it in 1-2 Neutral, a movement thats probubly slightly more comfortable in a left hand drive; that seems to prevent my car from cutting out. Obveously ...

How many left?

I've always hurd somehow the DVLA give statistics on what models are still registered, but never found out how to do it. Well thanks to topgear I've found the answer (or perhaps a new site that gives the answer). Which begs the important question, how many ecomatics are there? http://howmanyleft.co....

Re: Coolant pump V50 (Bosch)

Is £80 the vwspares price? This pump actully started out in the VW parts bin for the T3 Transporter turbo diesel (JX engine), hence the 251 part number. On those it helped shovel coolent about when coolent temprature got over 105°C, sounds alot but its most likely to happen just after shutting down ...

The one a couple of months ago must have slipped through my ebay filter then. With 11 owners its surprising this one hasn't apeared more often, it probubly acounts for 50% of ecomatic sales in recent years!

Re: Cooling/preheating system overhaul this weekend

Was your electric pump not working before? Are they ment to run all the time the ignition is on, just when the engine is sleeping or dependant on temp? I've noticed that though mine sits at 88degC when driving (gets up to 90 when climbing Winnants Pass flatout for a few minutes (never had the fan co...

Airbags - Depends on market and model I suspect. ETKA seems to list airbags as avalable on all years but in the UK it seems they were standard on all later models after the midlife update (rounded side repeater indicators - 96MY on), not sure when drivers airbag became mandatory in the UK but that m...

Re: Ecomatic instrument cluster

Having had a look inside my clocks, I wonder if its possable to fit a revcounter and digi clock by robbing the bits from a posher model. The PCBs apear to be the same, its just the analogue clock models don't have the contacts soldered to the track/holes where the revcounter instrement goes. I don't...

I tend to keep one vehicle there all the time though which is handy, hope they won't compain (I only own the green Land-Rover so its not all mine). Means I can use the workshop after hours and I don't have to finish the job th...
